Independent Educational Evaluations (IEEs)

Parents who don’t agree with a school district’s evaluation of their child often face an uphill battle. With the red tape, run-around and lack of certainty involved, it can be a stressful time. Our goal is to make the next step — an Independent Educational Evaluation — as stress-free and efficient as possible. We set out not only to investigate your communication concerns, but to validate them with the school district when we agree that they are causing a barrier to learning. Each child deserves to be truly advocated for, and we make it our business to make sure they are getting all the support they need. If you need specific information about obtaining an IEE, please check out page 5 of the parent rights packet:http://www.nccse.org/files/families/procedural-safeguards/State-Procedural-Safeguards_rv2016.pdf

After just two evaluation sessions with Ms. Himstreet, we found out more about our child, how she is wired, and how to really help her learn than any of her teachers from Kinder to 4th grade at her school had been able to grasp.

How It Works

  1. Contact our office and make an appointment for an intake call.
  2. Once we pinpoint your communication concerns, we will determine the best possible assessment plan for your child.
  3. Each assessment is tailored to your student’s needs.
  4. Appointments are made with both the school and your family to conduct the evaluation which will consist of direct testing with your child, rating scales, observations and teacher interviews.
  5. We write up the entire assessment in a user-friendly format putting the summary and recommendations first.
  6. We use plain English and provide charts and graphs for visual representations of information provided.
  7. We attend the IEP and present the information to the team. We are with you every step of the way!
