Here's what people are saying about Christy:
“My son went through a very terrible time through the district and several people failed him along the way. Christy went above and beyond to not only look to my son's best interest but to look beyond the walls and things that the school district’s therapist failed to look at when my son desperately needed the help. Christy's compassion, genuine personality, and professionalism were beyond my expectations. I felt lost, alone, and as if no one was on my son's side. And when Christy started working with my son, it opened up the doors for my son to finally receive the help and support that was needed desperately. Because of Christy's knowledge and work ethic, my son was able to be placed with the support that he needed. In addition to her findings, she was able to collaborate with other therapists and doctors that were also able to help build my son an incredible plan. Some kids like mine who have ADHD, often get left behind because they don't fall within the scope of the district or the state standards. It takes knowledge and understanding beyond the norm to find that children like my son do, in fact, need support although their disabilities seem invisible. This is not just a job, this is something they were made to do, and I am very appreciative of them coming to help my son. Thank you.”

“I wanted to take a minute to express how happy we are to have worked with Christy Himstreet. My wife and I struggled with our school district. Our daughter was struggling and the school district was not willing to help us understand why she couldn't read. All they were willing to do was offer more and more hours of special ed instead of really testing to find out what her needs are and how to teach her in a way that would work for how she is wired.
We're talking about a girl that is intelligent and articulate. A model student in every way, except that she couldn't read. We were not going to subject her to another year of ineffective special education, that would have her slipping further and further behind her peers each year according to the roadmap that they laid out. We needed to know what was going on with our daughter in order to get her some targeted help.
The district rejected our request to pay for an independent speech and language evaluations so we paid for the evaluation ourselves. After just two evaluation sessions with Ms. Himstreet, we found out more about our daughter, how she is wired, and how to really help her learn than any of her teachers from Kinder to 4th grade at her school had been able to grasp. Our daughter is dyslexic. She is equally as or maybe more intelligent than her peers, but she has an inability to process written language. From Ms. Himstreet we not only learned what our daughter was dealing with but also the type of environment that would work best for her to learn. Guess what? It wasn't the environment that the school district was providing.
Today, she is thriving at a different school where she is hungrily learning everything that is placed in front of her. She loves school and is finally reading! She is improving in her reading so quickly that my wife and I are literally all smiles every time she surprises us with her knowledge. The other day we were watching a show that had subtitles and my girl didn't need me to read them to her! We are so proud of her, and we owe a lot of thanks to the work done by Ms. Himstreet to help us in finding where she was educationally, and how to get her to a better place. I am no longer worried about my daughters future. She's going to be just fine. Maybe even better than fine and I for one couldn't be happier!

Our teachers have enjoyed watching her passionate work affect a quick and positive outcome for a student she has been working with this year at my school.
